PTCB Federal Requirements Flashcards (30 Cards)
Federal Requirements jumped from 12.5% to 18.75% of the PTCE under the outline effective January 6, 2026 — the biggest weight increase of any domain. A shift that size means this domain deserves more of your prep time than its old, smaller weighting might suggest.
It also now includes DSCSA content that didn’t exist on the exam before, so candidates can’t rely on older habits or assumptions about what this domain covers. These 30 flashcards focus on the terminology and rules most likely to catch candidates off guard, especially anyone studying from material that hasn’t caught up to the 2026 outline.

What's on the Deck
| Topic | What you’ll drill | Where to go deeper |
|---|---|---|
| Controlled substance schedules (I–V) | Which schedules can be refilled, and how many times | Federal Requirements Quiz |
| DEA registration & recordkeeping | Vocabulary that reappears across scenario questions | Federal Requirements study guide |
| DSCSA terms | TI, TH, TS, suspect/illegitimate product | Controlled Substances & Federal Law Quiz |
| Hazardous materials & recalls | Restricted-medication and recall vocabulary | Comprehensive study guide |
What Covered
- Controlled substance schedules (I–V) and refill rules by schedule — Schedule II drugs generally can’t be refilled and need a new prescription each time, while Schedules III–IV typically allow up to five refills within six months if authorized. Mixing up one schedule’s refill rules with another’s is one of the more common ways candidates lose otherwise easy points, and this is the section the PTCE Federal Requirements Quiz tests in scenario form.
- DEA-related terms — registration and recordkeeping vocabulary that reappears across Federal Requirements questions even as the scenario changes.
- DSCSA terminology — transaction information, transaction history, and transaction statement (TI, TH, TS), plus terms around suspect or illegitimate product. This is the newest material in the domain, so older study habits won’t have covered it.
- Hazardous materials, restricted medications, and recall-related terms — rounding out the domain beyond controlled substances and DSCSA.
Suggested Study Path
- Run all 30 cards once, no skipping — even the ones you know cold.
- Pull anything you hesitate on into a separate missed-card pile.
- Review the missed pile daily; retire cards once they stop giving you trouble.
- Move to the Beginner Quiz 1, Beginner Quiz 2 and Beginner Quiz 3 once the deck feels solid.
- For deeper DSCSA and controlled-substance practice, follow up with the Controlled Substances & Federal Law Quiz (100 questions).

How to Use These Cards
Run through all 30 without skipping the ones you’re confident about. Older, well-known controlled-substance facts can create false confidence that doesn’t extend to the newer DSCSA material, so a strong feel for schedules doesn’t guarantee the same is true for TI/TH/TS.
Set aside anything you hesitate on and revisit that smaller pile daily, rather than re-running all 30 every session — repeated review of your actual weak points closes gaps faster than repeating everything from scratch. If DSCSA cards make up most of your missed pile, treat that as new content to learn rather than a gap in existing knowledge; it genuinely wasn’t part of earlier versions of this domain.
Tracking Your Progress
The premium dashboard tracks this deck alongside the PTCE Federal Requirements Quiz, the PTCE Controlled Substances & Federal Law Quiz, and every other quiz on the site, bringing all of that activity together into one consolidated view rather than leaving each one siloed on its own. Instead of trying to mentally piece together how a flashcard session connects to a later quiz result, you get a single place where all of that progress lives side by side.
This makes it much easier to see whether the terminology you’re building here through flashcards is actually translating into stronger performance once it shows up in full quiz form. A term that felt solid on a flashcard doesn’t always hold up the same way once it’s embedded inside a longer, more complex question, so having both results visible together gives you a more honest read on whether the recognition is genuinely sticking.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this PTCE flashcard set free?
Yes — all these 30 PTCE cards, no cost, no account required.
Do these cards cover DSCSA?
Yes — DSCSA terminology is included as its own section, since it’s new to the domain as of January 2026.
How is this different from the PTCE Federal Requirements Quiz?
This deck drills terminology and rules in isolation; the quiz tests them inside scenario-based, multiple-choice questions.
I’ve never studied DSCSA before — is that a problem?
Not if you’re using current material. It’s a genuinely new knowledge area, so unfamiliarity just means it needs dedicated study time, the same as any other new topic.
